FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Local Start Up Diggit Victoria Supports Hero Work Campaign

Diggit Victoria, a new online marketplace, is supporting several local causes this Spring, starting with this year’s Hero Work campaign. As part of its commitment to the Victoria community, Diggit Victoria is using their site as a “hub” for people to find out about Hero Work and donate directly to the cause.

Developed by Paul Latour, Hero Work is a program that temporarily brings together small groups of community members to organize extreme makeovers for worthy nonprofits. This year’s campaign is an over $300K renovation of the Mustard Seed here in Victoria, whose building is in desperate need of repairs and upgrades. Between May 24th and June 2nd close to 100 local businesses and scores of volunteers will make it happen. Diggit Victoria has started early, asking people to donate to Hero Work through their site victoria.diggit.ca.

“We are curating ads based on the specific needs of the Hero Work campaign”, said Tish Hill, CEO of Semadic Interactive Technologies, the company responsible for Diggit Victoria. “This will help Paul and his team find exactly what they need and also allow people to donate directly to the cause”.

The Hero Work campaign page can be found at victoria.diggit.ca/herowork. The categories are based on the team’s “wishlist” and those who would like to donate can use the hashtag #digherowork to specify that they want their item or service used for Hero Work.

“I’m amazed by the the support of organizations like Diggit Victoria, who truly believe in supporting community and doing what they can to make this dream come true for the Mustard Seed”, said Latour.

As of now, Paul and his team still need furniture, flooring, floor layers, electricians, and other contractors to help with the extreme makeover. For a full list of needed items and services and to donate to the cause, visit victoria.diggit.ca/herowork.
